What’s on this April in Otago

This April in Otago, look out for sport, mixology, Maggie May, a gypsy fair, Easter, school hol’s and Anzac Day.

This Wednesday 5 April, take in an afternoon of cricket at the University Oval, when the Blackcaps play Sri Lanka in the second T20 of the season. Then “tonight’s the night” to see Rod Stewart, performing in Dunedin at the Forsyth Barr Stadium, with special guests Cyndi Lauper and Jon Stevens.

This Easter weekend, check out the Annual Gypsy Fair for funky stalls, cool vehicles, free entry and entertainment, from 7 - 9 April at the Oval. This Saturday, it’s a rugby night! Head along to Forsyth Barr Stadium to cheer on the Highlanders in their home game against the Hurricanes. Bring the kids and enjoy the live game atmosphere.

Later this month, shake, strain and stir while learning the art of mixology at a Cocktail Class at Wingatui Racecourse. Have a fun night out and mix up your own four cocktails, on Friday night, 21 April.

Finally, this April, commemorate Anzac Day at 1pm, Tuesday 25 April at Toitū Otago Settlers Museum. Listen to the "Voices of Gallipoli”, a reading of three stories written by Otago soldiers who fought at Gallipoli, as told in Maurice Shadbolt’s book of the same name.
