What’s on: January in Otago
Ease into the New Year with some fun outdoor events this January.
Missing the F1? Head to Highlands on the 12 - 13 January for the Speedworks Motorsport NZ Champs.
Feeling nostalgic? Pry the kids off screens and book them in for old school family fun at Glenfalloch on 14 - 20 January. Cheer on 5 – 12 year olds battling obstacle courses, and gravity in the egg and spoon, and sack races. Then let them cool off and have a blast at the Summer Pool Party at the St Clair Salt Water Pool on Saturday 19 January. From 12 to 3pm enjoy a swim, a BBQ lunch, games, and prizes.
The Cromwell Classic Car & Hot Rod Show takes place on 19 January at the Alpha Street Reserve in Cromwell. Check out the 800 classic cars, hot rods and bikes on display and enjoy the food, bar, and craft stalls.
“The best laid schemes o' mice an' men gang aft agley” - therefore the Robbie Rocks Dunedin Concert 2019 in the Octagon wisely has a bad weather backup – Toitū. Watch finalists rock Robbie Burns’ classics on Sunday 20 January.
Finally, check out beasties great and small at the Otago Taieri A&P Show on Saturday 26 January. Our Lifestyle and Rural team will be lining up keen terriers for the annual Jack Russell race, a show day favourite.
