What’s on in Otago this October

Level one and daylight savings have arrived just in time for the school holidays - we just need to shake off this spring snow! October treats us to a three-day weekend, a variety of shows, dancing, running and beer-tasting.

The Dunedin Brick Show is one for kids big and small. Have a play with the Lego, and check out the displays, competitions and science experiments during the weekend of 3 - 4 October at the More FM Arena. On 3 October, young Auckland indie-pop artist Benee will perform at the Dunedin Town Hall - a great chance to see her perform live her award-winning playlist on her Aotearoa tour.

On 11 October, it’s time to step up! Register now to challenge yourself and your friends to lap the Forsyth Barr Stadium for Leukaemia and Blood Cancer New Zealand. Then step out to the Regent from 14 - 17 October for The Highlights. Relive the best bits from more than 20 blockbuster musicals staged in Dunedin since 2010, featuring world-class local talent including the original stars.

This Labour weekend, Cromwell is the place to be. On Sunday, bust out the running shoes and bring your support crew for the Cromwell Half Marathon, 10km and Team Relay event around Lake Dunstan. Later on, soak up the atmosphere at the Street Party and night market in the Heritage Precinct, then watch the fireworks crackle, pop and boom over the lake.

Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, so get your claws on some tickets for a thriller night at Larnach Castle. Dress to scare and boogie to the live band, sip a gruesome cocktail and do your bidding for the Hospice auction.

Did you get tickets for the Craft Beer and Food Festival on 30 - 31 October at the Forsyth Barr Stadium? It is now completely sold out, so it should be a busy weekend for the city.

Isn’t it great to see a busy month of events ahead? See you out there!
