Six top tips: amplify your street appeal

A smart, attractive frontage always turns heads. Spruce up your home’s street appeal for yourself and your visitors, and when selling, strike the perfect first impression with potential buyers. With minimal spend and only a little time and effort, you can build a pleasing presence for your home, for onlookers and online, with our six top tips to amplify your street appeal.

Blast it all. Use a pressure washer to clean the driveway, paths, fences, gutters, roofing, and anything else that’s a bit dirty and mossy. Clear your home’s exterior of cobwebs and insect dirt with a good hose brush, to make it look like new.

Send a message. With a well presented mailbox and front fence. Fix, straighten and clean, then brighten them up with a fresh coat of paint or timber stain for your fence and a contemporary style for your street number.

Light it up. Find your footing after sundown and impress after-work browsers with practical and stylish outdoor lighting. For a welcoming appearance, illuminate the entryway and exterior, and emphasise the best garden beds at the front of your home. For more flexibility and no need for digging and wiring, save time and money with solar powered LED lighting.

Use your grounds to great effect. Tidy up your garden and lawns and stay on top of weeds, mowing and edge trimming for an outdoor space that attracts the eye. Trim overhanging branches for more light and space and rake up dull, dead leaves and foliage. For colour and structure, throw in some flowers, rocks and pavers, fill bare spots with greenery, and show your hedges some love.

Accessorise with style. Keep outdoor areas free of clutter, especially those that are visible street-side. Instead, show off your outside space and good taste with simple furniture, a new doormat, and a modern pot plant or two.

Make a clear statement. Grab some time in the weekend to get your windows clean and sparkling. Invite more light inside, and potentially more viewers too, with an appealing, crystal clear outlook.
