What’s on: January in Otago

Cromwell is the place to be this January. Pencil in your Sundays at the Cromwell Farmers’ and Craft Market, a haven for locally made food and wine, fresh baking, cheeses, olive oil, honey, plants, crafts and gifts. Have a wee shop, some brunch and enjoy the live music, 9am to 1pm, on 12, 19, and 26 January.

On 18 and 19 January, take in the grid at the Speedworks Motorsport NZ Championship at Highlands Motorsport Park, with epic racing in classes from the Toyota Racing Series to Central Muscle Cars, Porsches, Mazdas and Formula Fords.

Back in Dunedin, cool off and have a blast at the Summer Pool Party on 24 January at the St Clair Hot Salt Water Pool. Have a BBQ lunch and get amongst the games and prizes.

On the 25 January, celebrate the Year of the Rat at Lan Yuan, the Dunedin Chinese Garden. From 6.30pm, enjoy entertainment and food stalls, a dragon parade from the Octagon, and a dragon and lion dance, ending with the grand finale at the Garden.

Whether you’re trackside or poolside, browsing the markets, watching lions or lying in the sun, there’s plenty on offer for a fun and relaxing January in Otago.
