What’s on this August in Otago

See winter off in style this month with a great selection of events covering art, aromatherapy, architecture, fashion and photography.

Looking for something to brighten your walls this winter? Head along to the Edinburgh Premier Art Awards exhibition, 5 August - 2 September at the Otago Art Society. Admire the entries, vote for your favourite for the People’s Choice Award and treat yourself to a purchase or two.

For a night of aroma, tea and treats, book yourself a place on the Aromatherapy Workshop on 8 August with Aromatherapist Sharyn Crawford. Learn about essential oil blends and benefits, and make your own blend to take home.

The I Am Found Market is now the Be-loved Market, where you can peruse pre-loved, vintage and handmade collections from a variety of curators and makers. Find yourself something truly exquisite, Saturday 12 August, at the Maori Hill Community Centre.

Did you know, every third Tuesday of the month, you can join an Architectural Tour of Olveston? Make a booking to explore Dunedin’s “architectural gem” from conceptual plans through to completion, this month: 3pm Tuesday 15 August.

As part of Conservation week for 2023, on Sunday 20 August join the community for a mahi day on Quarantine Island / Kamau Taurua! There’s always lots of work to be done, including seedling release, beach clean up and more.

Have you been to the Tūhura Photography Exhibition yet? It finishes on 3 September so make sure you get in to see these stunning images of the natural world captured by talented local enthusiasts.
