What’s happening in Central Otago

Our Cromwell office has been receiving buyer inquiry from all over New Zealand. This demand for property in and around Cromwell, along with lower interest rates and limited listings, has kept prices in the area on a steady climb.

We’re seeing demand for all types of property in all price brackets. There’s strong buyer interest in properties over the $1m mark, particularly from families looking for a lifestyle block or home with a larger section. Properties in the $500,000 - $600,000 range are in short supply and much sought after, while sections receive most inquiry from first home buyers and investors.

Overall, the real estate market in Cromwell is tracking along nicely, with high prices and properties selling quickly. If you’re thinking of selling in Central, get in touch with our Cromwell team today.

If visiting Central this summer, there’s always much on offer - it’s definitely the place to be! Look out for these great events coming up in the next few months.

Waitangi weekend has the Five Stags Summer Festival in Cromwell with live music, giveaways and late night DJ sets, while Alexandra’s Pioneer Park hosts the Central Otago Craft Beer Festival with outdoor family fun. For speedway fans, there’s the NZ Saloon GP at Cromwell Speedway followed up on 20 February by round three of the 2020/2021 Super Cup.

On 13 February, treat yourself to a day out at the Central Otago A&P Show. Held at Omakau, there will be all-day entertainment, ponies, shearing, woodchopping, trades and crafts.

The gnarly hills around Alexandra set the scene for the Prospector Mountain Bike Stage Race, to be held 12-14 March. Get a team together or race alone for three epic days and stages of singletrack and backcountry cross-country mountain bike racing.

For more sedate mountain biking with scenery just as breathtaking, look for completion of the 54km Lake Dunstan Cycle Trail. When the final 25km stretch opens late summer, you’ll be able to ride comfortably from Cromwell to Clyde, on smooth terrain and easy gradients, along spectacular cantilevered cliffside trails and bridges.
