Teeing Off for Otago Community Hospice

Teeing Off for Otago Community Hospice

What an unforgettable day at the 5th Annual Edinburgh Commercial Women’s Golf Tournament, held at the beautiful Otago Golf Club on Friday 21 November. With a record number of teams taking part, the course was buzzing with energy as 102 women hit the fairways for a nine-hole Ambrose tournament filled with great golf, creative costumes, and plenty of laughter.

Despite a little rain, spirits stayed sky-high — and thanks to the incredible generosity of everyone involved, we’re proud to share that over $19,300 was raised for Otago Community Hospice, supporting vital palliative care services for families across Otago.

Our Edinburgh team had an amazing day out on the course, soaking up the atmosphere and cheering on the players. The Edinburgh wine and cheese tent also enjoyed a serious glow-up, quickly becoming a popular pit stop for players to relax, refuel, and enjoy the fun between holes.

Congratulations to this year’s tournament winners — Emma Taylor, Amanda Dyer and Nicola Meader, proudly known as ‘Drive Between The Wines’, who played a fantastic round to take out top honours on the day.

A huge thank you goes to Merrin Bath (Edinburgh Realty Commercial), Tina Reece (Otago Community Hospice) and Shelley Duncan (Otago Golf Club) for their tremendous efforts in coordinating and hosting such a special event.

“This event has grown year-on-year since its inception in 2021, something that myself and the team at Edinburgh Realty are extremely proud of. It is a privilege to be raising vital funds for Otago Community Hospice while helping get more women playing golf in a supportive and fun environment,” said Merrin.

We were also honoured to have two incredible guests join us on the day, our ‘Pro’ Joanna Ke, who at just 9 years old recently won the under-nine girls’ title at the Champion of Champions world golf tournament in Northern Ireland, and local rally icon Emma Gilmour. Both brought inspiration, excitement, and plenty of memorable moments to the event.

To our generous sponsors, countless volunteers, and enthusiastic players, thank you. Your support is what makes this stand-out fundraising event such a success year after year. This tournament continues to grow, and we’re already looking forward to hitting the green again in 2026.

Ladies… start thinking about those costumes!
