What’s on this August in Otago

This last month of winter offers a host of heartwarming events locally, from historical fine dining, bustling markets and fashion collections, to fine art and live music.

Step back in time this Friday, to enjoy a very special dining experience at Olveston. Book your place at the table for an intimate three-course formal dinner party experience.

This weekend, 6 and 7 August, head along to the Wingatui Artisan Farmers Crafters Market at the Otago Racing Club. From 11am to 4pm each day, have a wee shop at the amazing variety of stalls, and enjoy live entertainment, tasty food and coffee.

On Saturday 6 August, pop by the I Am Found Vintage and Preloved Clothing Market from 10am at the Maori Hill Community Centre. Browse quality second-hand garments from the 11 stalls of handpicked professional collectors and wardrobe enthusiasts.

Fashionistas are in for another treat, with the Fashion for a Cure evening on Wednesday 10 August at Emerson’s Brewery. Take in the latest from 12 top designers on the catwalk and have a great night out, while supporting breast cancer research.

For a memorable musical evening, catch Tami Neilson in concert on 18 August with Chamber Music New Zealand. Get some friends together for “Kingmaker”,  Neilsons fifth studio album, live at the Regent Theatre.

Happily, this month until 27 August, you can head along to the Edinburgh Premier Art Awards exhibition at the Otago Art Society. View all of the entries from talented artists in this year’s awards, including the judge’s selection, and select your own favourite for the People’s Choice Award, to be announced at the exhibition closing.
